So now we come to the pointy end of the article. Is ClickFunnels 2.0 any good? The easiest way to try and summarize this is a pros and cons list.
Unlike Classic ClickFunnels 1.0 which has around 100 templates; the new platform has only a handful of page and funnel templates.
The templates are also beginning to look outdated. I know the templates are fully customizable, but the idea of a template is to save time and make the website and funnel-building process quicker. So, this is a major issue.
To solve this problem, I’ve been looking around to find templates that can be imported into ClickFunnels. If you like ClickFunnels but want the choice of more templates that are also more modern, then check out this funnel building site
When you’re making edits to a page it would be great to see the changes as you’re making them. Instead, you have to save between changes to see a preview of what you’re designing. Maybe this will get updated in later upgrades, but for now it’s frustrating and slows down the build process.
There’s no quick button to open and add Elements (buttons, text boxes, images etc.). You have to go to an existing element and then click on the + button to add in an extra element.
Once you’ve figured this out, it’s easy, but it isn’t immediately obvious. I guess they’ve designed the editor this way so that the element is added into the right spot on your page.
Ok. So let me be clear. I think the fact that ClickFunnels 2.0 includes the ability to host ALL your courses is amazing! The problem is that building the course portal takes time and isn’t intuitive. Instead of being able to drag and drop videos and audio into the course template, you have to load content via Settings?!?!? This is so weird and makes the process of creating the course modules a bit clunky and more time consuming than I would like it to be.
ClickFunnels has multiple ways for you to seek help and support. Especially when it comes to marketing and software training. However, if you’re experiencing a complex technical issue with the software then customer support is slow. Especially on weekends!! If the only way I make money is via my online business hosted on ClickFunnels and I have a glitch, then it’s important that it gets fixed asap! This is probably my biggest gripe.
ClickFunnels has multiple ways for you to seek help and support. Especially when it comes to marketing and software training. However, if you’re experiencing a complex technical issue with the software then customer support is slow. Especially on weekends!! There are complaints that ClickFunnels is amongst the highest priced funnel building software available.
This is certainly true for the v2.0 platform. For example, when you compare ClickFunnels Basic Plan to the Kartra Starter Plan, it is around $28 more expensive per month. However, the ClickFunnels Pro Plan is $32 cheaper per month than the (comparative) Kartra Silver Plan and the top tier plan is an incredible $252 cheaper than the Platinum Kartra!!
So even though ClickFunnels is considered a premium product, similar comparative products also come with a high price tag.
Even with the upgraded platform, everything is still easy to use with drag-and-drop functionality. Adding design blocks and assets is super easy so that you can customize the templates to suit your needs. Of course, you can create headers, footers, logos, etc. that are universal across your site (like you get in WordPress and other platforms).
The new funnel dashboard and workflow screen is a cool new functionality that makes funnel building easier. From the dashboard, you can jump in and out of pages so that building funnels is less linear and a faster process.
The email marketing feature allows you to create automated email funnels, so that you can communicate with your customers to confirm orders, reset passwords, offer upsells and send out newsletters and tons of other things.
It’s a mini CRM and available even on the basic plan. This is a critical part of the customer journey that was previously only available on the premium ClickFunnels classic subscription. Adding this feature into the basic plan is a killer move by the ClickFunnels team.
With Membership Sites you can create a subscription style business, where you can get ongoing recurring revenue. For example, if you’re a fitness coach, this could be new training videos that are shared ongoing. Only members get access to the new materials as it is shared. You can also control when and how content is shared by drip feeding this over a predetermined timeframe.
This is a new feature that is added into the basic plan, so even on the lowest pricing plan you have full access to this business model.
Doing a split test or A/B test is one of the new features in the upgraded platform. It’s super easy to set up (you can clone your pages), and you can customize how you want traffic diverted. You also get access to analytics to help you understand which page has performed better so you can make tweaks to get higher conversion.
The classic ClickFunnels is more of a funnel builder with landing pages. It still worked like a website but was limited.
With ClickFunnels 2.0, there’s now a much bigger emphasis on websites and blog posts with all the bells and whistles. It now means you really have no need to host a separate website on WordPress or any other platform. This is a big improvement from classic ClickFunnels.
Included with your subscription is the ability to host your video content and have this content secured. This is especially useful for anyone wanting to sell a course. You can host your website, funnels and course videos and content all on one platform that is fully integrated. This creates a much better end user experience for customers who will get a more consistent and branded experience.
