Whilst Xray is the flagship tool of the Helium 10 Chrome Extension, I personally want to thank the Helium 10 team for creating Review Insights.
Review Insights is an absolute must-have and must-use tool. And it’s totally free! In this article, I explain:
With Review Insights (previously known as Review Downloader), you have a quick way to download Amazon product reviews in bulk so you can learn what customers are saying about your products:
Positive feedback is an opportunity to leverage more sales.
Negative reviews give you a chance to fix up common buyer issues quickly before they fester and pull a product ranking down.
Review Insights is also great for competitor research. Which I will talk more about below.
Helium 10 Review Insights is accessed through the Helium 10 Chrome Extension.
Review Insights is one of the Helium 10 tools that doesn’t work on bulk listings. So, you need to have a product page open., before you can open Review Insights in one of 2 ways:
Directly from the Helium 10 Extension icon in the Google Chrome toolbar:
Using the Chrome Extension for Amazon you’ll see the Product Summary Widget on the top left-hand side of the product listing page.
The Review Listings tool has a few tabs and filters to help you dig into the data.
The tool is simple to use, but I have 5 great strategies that I want to share so you can use review insights to improve your listings and sell more!
I use Review Insights throughout my product life cycle. I believe it is an excellent supporting tool to do Helium 10 product research if you use the right strategies.
I use my Review Insights 5 Strategies to:
Sell better quality products.
Write customer-focused listings.
Get more sales on Amazon and improve a product’s Best Sellers Rank (Amazon BSR)
Reduce returns.
Get better product ratings.
It creates a positive loop: Sell more to increase BSR. Increase BSR and sell more!
Let’s say you’ve identified a competitor’s Amazon top sellers in Black Box, and you want to start selling this item. Since it’s a new product for you, it makes sense to keep things simple and only sell one or two product variations.
The ideal variation (or child product) is the one that’s selling the most.
But when a competitor has multiple variations of a product (e.g. color, size, etc.), it’s not easy to see which product variation is selling the most.
A quick fix to this issue is to use Review Insights.
Open Amazon and find a competitor product.
Using the Helium 10 Chrome Extension open Review Insights
Select the Product Variations tab.
Extract to Excel to sort the data.
Using my pet niche, if I do this analysis on a competitor’s dog harness, I can very quickly find their best-selling variations based on their product reviews. See the below screenshot of my analysis results.
If I were a new seller wanting to reduce my capital exposure, then I could target only those higher volume variations. In my test example above that would mean I’d only have to get stock of small, medium, and large sizes in Black, Green, and Grey.
Using this Helium 10 hack I can keep my initial investment low whilst still reaching most of the potential customers.
Fewer Variations = Keeping it Simple = Time to Focus on Quality
The top phrases that show up in Review Insights are clues to what matters to customers.
In the screenshot below (using the same dog harness example) you can see how Review Insights has grouped together all the Top Phrases.
If I dig further into these top phrases, it’s likely to give me some smart insights into customer reasons or needs when buying this product.
A clever thing would be to use these phrases in my product description. These are usually NOT keywords (so won’t show up as search terms). But they are important to a customer.
This is an easy way to connect with a customer’s needs and improve buyer conversion rates.
Better Conversion Rates = More Sales = Better Amazon BSR!
In Review Insights using the All Reviews tab, it’s easy to filter for the low (1, 2, or 3-star) rating reviews to find customer pain points.
For example, when I run this tool on my dog harness example, then one common point of friction causing low star reviews, is harness sizing.
You can also use the Review Analysis tab to help with this analysis step.
So, using this data, I’d only sell a harness that has adjustable straps and I’d focus my product listing bullet points on harness sizing, providing full measurements and sizing charts.
The cherry on the cake would be to include pictures to help customers visualize the product sizing. See below example image below taken from an Amazon listing to help customers order the correct size.
Better Quality Products = Happier Customers = More Sales = Better BSR
Let’s flip the coin for a second. Because it’s also important to look at positive reviews.
Using the All Review tabs, filter for the 5-star reviews. If you dig deeper into these reviews, you’ll uncover the main reasons why customers are buying a product and what means the most to them.
Using the dog harness example, I’ve filtered for the 5-star reviews. In the screenshot below you can see how I’ve identified several key factors that I need to include in my listing description and image pack.
Using the All Questions tab you can uncover important customer needs. If there are questions being asked, then we can assume that the product listings are inadequate. If there are relevant and valid questions, then it’s easy to add the information to your listing.
Why do I rate Helium 10 Review Insights so highly? Well, it’s simple to use and effective! Those are probably good enough reasons. But let me expand.
My goal as an eCommerce seller is to make money. BUT I value my customers. Using the above strategies with Review Insights, I can quickly get clarity on what matters most to my customers.
In most situations after using Review Insights, I’ve been able to serve my customers better by:
Sourcing and supplying quality products that outperform my competitors.
Improving my listing titles and descriptions to match with customer priorities.
Eliminating customer pain points with products that suit their needs better.
Answering customer questions in the description.
The outcome is that:
Products sell more and perform better according to Amazon BSR.
Better Amazon Seller Rank makes it easier to sell more.
There are fewer returns.
Customers have higher satisfaction and give better product ratings.
Now do you get how useful this tool can be?
Even though I’ve raved about Review Insights features, the BEST thing about this tool is that it’s totally FREE! Just download the Helium 10 Chrome Extension.
