See exactly what I am starting with and where I am getting my traffic from
Getting 10,000 visitors to a site in one month is not something that I have ever done before.
So why am I doing it?
If you checked out my last post, you'll know that by putting my journey out in the open like this - it is a way to keep myself accountable. But it is also a way to inspire others that it is possible to start a site and get some traction.
When I first started I had no idea what it would take to get 10,000 visitors a month. I didn't know it was even possible. Hell i would've been happy to get a site to 100 visitors a month...
Since I started 2 years ago I have launched some successful affiliate sites, so I have a descent understanding of what I need to do to reach that level.
But because I have never done it before, I thought it would be a good experience to document what works and what doesn't work so that other people can benefit from my success (or failures).
As of August 15 Hustle Life is getting about 1,500 visitors a month. You might be thinking "wait - huh?! how is a new site getting that many visitors so quickly - I thought new sites took months to gain any traction!"
You are absolutely right, I am no SEO Ninja or some marketing genius. There are a few reasons why I got so many visitors so quickly which I will explain later on...
But first we'll take a look at where all these visitors are coming from:
As you can see, most of the traffic I get is from organic search. This means that Hustle Life is ranking pretty well for some search terms. This is also one source of traffic I will be focusing on a lot to increase visitors.
The distant second source of traffic is social, which is another source of traffic that I will be focusing on. Let's take a look at the breakdown:
This was interesting and I was a little confused because the average session on Facebook - 0:18 seconds was so bad!
I initially thought the traffic was solely from posting Hustle Life on my personal feed and other FB groups, but I forgot that I was running Facebook Ads directly to Hustle Life, instead of my Clickfunnels account. So the 18 seconds makes sense for what is essentially a landing page.
The other interesting part was the amount of traffic coming from Quora. I just recently started to focus on answering Quora questions and building my profile there, and it looks like it is starting to pay off!
I am kind of surprised I am still getting traffic from my old Youtube channel - I haven't touch it in a long time, yet it is still generating $100-200 per month on autopilot.
That is why I am starting a new Youtube Channel and it is going to be another big focus for me in the next couple of months...
So besides doing some light promoting of my site on Facebook, and answering questions on Quora - the biggest reason I got 1000 visitors is because 301 redirected my old site thelazyplumber.com to hustlelife.net
My old site was already established and getting love from Google, so I was able to bypass the usual 3-6 months Google sandbox by redirecting my old site to a new site.
You can tell that I started Hustle Life in June, and that is when I redirected my old site to it. And the traffic started pouring in...
"Well that's great! He already had a site before - that's cheating!" You might be thinking...
I didn't start hustlelife.net from scratch. I already had nice big juicy authority backlinks pointing to my site. I had an unfair head start.
So why don't you give yourself an unfair head start?
That's right, you can give yourself a head start too by buying an old domain and putting your own content on it. Sure you might get a weird domain like "thevillagelibrary.net" or something but you can have powerful links pointing to it that will help you rank fast as well.
But this is a whole other topic that I plan to talk about more in future posts!
Well I hope this gives you some insight on where Hustle Life is today and also gives you some ideas for yourself and your own affiliate sites.
Make sure to stay tuned for future blog posts as I will be sharing more on my journey to 10K and also will be giving you insights and ideas that will help you reach your affiliate marketing goals.
